This draft was created with alchemy being the primary sound creation tool. It’s currently shorter than I’d like, and I think it will benefit from different Max sounds to create a different contrast.
This bounce is a collection of the techniques and ideas I plan on using. The synth used is a 1974 retro and it has two tracks, one which focuses on envelope changes and the other on granular synthesis techniques through Logic X’s “Alchemy.” The other “sounds” are generated from a snippet of Martin Luther King’s final speech and is real-time manipulated with envelope changes and granular synthesis, also within Alchemy. (Also music concrete techniques such as looping and splicing and reversing are used).
This is the second draft of my synthesis piece. I have removed most of the sounds used in the first draft. I was inspired by the reading to limit myself to only a few sound sources and to maximize the potential of each source.
This edited version includes much more varied use of envelope change. The polyphony is also changed as phrases are stretched and also shortened. Amplitude change and tempo changes have also been applied to “collapse the sense of pulse.”
This is my second draft I have rewired sounds from different Max patches and processed them to create more interesting sound textures.
